Drama lessons facilitate the development of life skills that serve our pupils above and beyond their time at St Paul’s.
Providing a creative platform and a safe, constructive environment, the First and Second Years benefit from a weekly timetabled lesson. Here they engage with a wide range of topics, dramatists and styles including clowning, mime, ensemble and Shakespeare. One term is set aside for the rehearsal of a production in which the whole year takes part: the Upper First and Upper Second plays as well as the highly-anticipated Lower Second Playwriting Competition. Each year there is an exciting collaboration to look forward to, in which everyone has a part to play. These opportunities are further enhanced by working alongside industry professionals: playwrights and designers who provide outstanding sets and scripts for the pupils.
The Third Years have a double drama lesson for one quarter of the year. These extended lessons allow pupils to develop more advanced theatre skills including physical theatre, devising, set design and stage combat.
For pupils who are keen to pursue further drama opportunities, we have a vast range of clubs and activities on offer.
