Athletics Round Up

On Saturday, 13 May Alex (Upper Eighth) broke his own school record in the shot put, adding over a metre to his previous best with a magnificent throw of 15.25m in the Lord Burghley Trophy competition at Eton College.

This not only won him the performance of the match but also ranks him sixth in the country in the U20 age group.

Additionally, Max Bishop (Lower Eighth) improved his personal best over 800m, running a time of 1:54.62 at a British Miler’s Club race; he needs 1:54.0 to qualify for the English Schools Championships and also has the school record of 1:53.3 firmly in his sights. Max is currently ranked 17th nationally in the U20 age group.

On Saturday, 20 May a slightly depleted athletics team travelled to Tonbridge, taking advantage of the good conditions to record a host of personal bests. The man of the match goes to Sol Inglis for competing in eight events, including an excellent win in the long jump.
