The Classical Society meets regularly throughout the year and offers talks that encompass the full breadth of classical studies: literature, history, philosophy, art, linguistics, and more besides.
Our talks are given by outside speakers, staff, and pupils. We also run an annual dinner for Eighth Formers studying classical subjects.
While our Classical Society is open to all pupils, we also have a junior society, Pegasus, aimed at those in the Fourth and Fifth Forms. This meets every week for pupils to take part in activities and workshops related to the Ancient World or hear talks from older boys studying Classics. Past sessions have included: Babylonian Mathematics, a Roman-Italian café, an introduction to Biblical Hebrew, a workshop on Greek comedy, and Latin Countdown.
