Pask Society

Pask Society is the senior molecular biology projects club

PaskSoc takes its name from the celebrated teacher, Sidney Pask, who taught biology to OPs including Oliver Sacks, Jonathan Miller and Robert Winston between the 1930s and the 1960s.

While the nature of biology as an A level subject has changed a lot since the 1960s, the Pask philosophy of stretching students far beyond the syllabus and applying their scientific knowledge to experimental design is one which we still embrace today.

PaskSoc aims to explore the subject of molecular biology in considerable, extra detail through advanced practical work. Students are given the opportunity to understand and practise a wide range of sophisticated laboratory techniques which allow them to carry out DNA synthesis and manipulation, as well as protein purification and analysis.
