Centuries Scored at Monkton Combe Cricket Festival

Yesterday saw our 1st XI cricket team take on The Leys School in a 50-over match as part of the Monkton Combe Cricket Festival.

Despite The Leys putting on a score of 278, an incredibly strong partnership between Anosh Malik and Akhil Sofat saw St Paul’s chase down the total with more than ten overs to spare, giving us an eight-wicket win. Both Anosh and Akhil scored centuries as they put on 212 runs between them, with a special mention to Anosh who also batted his way to a ton against Reed’s School just two days earlier. He is the first player in the 1st XI to score a hundred in consecutive matches since the 1930s!

The bowling was ably led by Dan Whiley Bowles, picking up a five-wicket haul to help skittle The Leys’ batsmen out. A fine all-round team performance with both the bat and ball, congratulations to all the players and coaches involved.
